New season, new Larder Menu

Now that (weather permitted…) we’re heading into the Summer, our Larder chefs and team of tasters have been busy bringing you a brand new seasonal menu. From summer perfect light bites to unusual yet delicious flavour combinations, here are some of the culinary highlights you’ll find on the Larder’s Summer menu debuting this week…

A vegan Summer

You asked, we listened… with more and more of our regulars requesting vegan alternatives we’ve upped our non-meat, non-dairy options across all our coffee shops.

Particularly at the Larder in Bethnal Green (our vegetarian coffee shop), we’re really proud of our new vegan offering. You’ll find us serving up tasty new mains like Beetroot and coconut dahl with turmeric pilaf, Rice noodle salad with tofu, pickles, Chinese cabbage and sesame and the gluten-free Spring Superfood Salad with quinoa, roasted vegetables, baby spinach and a sprinkling of roasted nuts. With dairy alternatives such as vegan yoghurt, you’ll be able to modify loads of our vegetarian dishes like the Sweet potato and chickpea stew and Grilled courgette and freekeh salad with feta and pumpkin seed pistou.

Our favourite E17 artisan baker Claudia – from Walthamstow’s ‘Crumbs’, will also be delivering her infamous vegan cakes and bakes to Bethnal Green, Walthamstow Wetlands and The William Morris Gallery Tea Room. Using seasonal ingredients such as rhubarb and strawberries, these are the perfect way to finish off your meal or enjoy as an afternoon pick me up with a cup of our speciality hand-roasted coffee.

At the top of our Butlers Retreat and Walthamstow Wetlands’ menus, you’ll find our hearty winter bowls have been swapped out for star summer dishes including Fresh egg tagliatelle with courgette and wild garlic pesto and Baked tandoori salmon with citrus rich and cucumber raita. For our gluten-free customers we’ve also created the tried and tested staff favourite – Sumac marinated lamb kebabs with Moroccan spiced chickpea salad.

Flavour combinations is an area we’ve really focused on with our new menu, adding different ingredient into the mix to create surprising but delicious new taste experiences such as the summer perfect Spring salad. Vegan and gluten-free, this dish combines strawberries and feta, finished with toasted walnut in lemon vinaigrette.

Picnic Treats

If you’re out discovering the east London wildlife at Walthamstow Wetlands, having a ramble round Epping Forest or picking up your artisan picnic goods from our Walthamstow Deli, we’ve now got handy £5 Kids’ Picnic Bags for your little ones to enjoy on-the-go or as an eat in treat.

Each paper bag includes a ham, cheese or tuna sandwich, packet of Pom Bears or home baked brownie, piece of fresh fruit and a carton of juice!
