Afternoon Tea at the Larder is all about great rustic spreads in laid-back, relaxed settings. So we’re less white table cloths and stuffy formalities and more shareable, rustic, whole-food goodness.

Our Afternoon Tea menu combines an array of goodies, from home-baked scones with clotted cream & jam, to bite-sized sweet treats and sandwiches on freshly baked bread, all perfectly complemented by our speciality tea menu (or Prosecco if you’re in the mood for fizz!). We don’t have a set menu but you can be sure of at least three types of sandwich with a variety of Larder favourite fillings, and three types of cake, plus the scones of course, and we offer a complimentary top-up of your hot drink choice.

We offer Afternoon Tea for groups of two or more at any time of day, but do check cafe closing times as we suggest you arrive at least an hour and a half before closing to give you time to relax and enjoy. For more than four people we request pre-booking, whilst for up to four people there’s no need to book, but as we can’t always guarantee we’ll have enough of everything we do still recommend pre-booking ideally with 48 hours notice – chef is most happy when he can time the scones to come out of the oven as you’re arriving! During our lunch-time rush, if you arrive without booking, a bit of patience might be required, so we recommend arriving between 2.15pm and 3pm.

On the site be sure to choose the correct afternoon tea product – head to the ‘Treats’ section and select one of the two DINE-IN options, taking care to choose ‘collection’ rather than ‘delivery’ when booking. Don’t worry that it says collection, we will automatically expect your group for dine-in, and will reserve a table for you, it just ensures you don’t accidentally pay a delivery charge.

For larger group bookings we can also offer our semi-private upstairs space, the Forest View Room at Butlers Retreat, which seats up to 32 guests, or our long table at the Larder Wanstead that seats up to 14.
